Assistant Pastor Franklin HerrNeckar

Pastor Franklin comes to us from Corning, NY in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region.  Originally he is from Waterbury, Connecticut but moved to New York in his early teenage years.  Franklin originally went to Corning Community College and Alfred State where he majored in information technology (IT).  He spent 7 years working in IT before being called into the ministry after attending a youth leaders conference in Indiana. He left his job in 2015 and attended Houghton College full time and received his bachelors in theology.

One month after graduating, he married the love of his life Sarah Hurley of Sayre, Pennsylvania.  After returning from their honeymoon, they both started a new adventure together and made the move to Plattsburgh in July 2018. (Talk about a lot of change all at once)! Prior to getting married and moving, they both served as youth leaders in the Southern Tier.

Franklin is what some might call an uber nerd (editor’s note: compared to Pastor Jordon’s just plain nerdery). He enjoys computers, table top games, anime, all things that start with Star (i.e. Wars and Trek), and the Marvel universe.  He also enjoys being outdoors and spending time near or on the lake especially when sailboats are involved.

He has a passion for youth and family ministry as he believes that it is important to provide both children and teens with the proper tools to develop and grow their own relationship with God. Having come from a background in information technology, he also has a passion for using those skills to build God’s kingdom.

Favorite Movie: The Terminal… it’s weird, I know.

Favorite Superhero: that’s SO hard but if I had to choose it would be Iron Man for Marvel and Green Lantern for DC

Favorite Snack: Garlic Stuffed Olives (give me ALL the garlic!!)

Favorite Food: Eggplant Parmesan (or anything with garlic)

Favorite Drink: Mountain Dew Voltage (sponsored by youth pastor’s everywhere)

Favorite Restaurant: Moonies (one of the top places in the nation to get great Mac ‘n Cheese, I miss being near one!)

Favorite Hobby: It’s hard to pick just one thing, but most often I can be found playing WarHammer 40K at the game shop, playing video games, or tinkering around with my RC planes and drones.

What you wish people knew about you: I can relate to most people, one way or another. I am a super nerd (I have watched everyone episode of Star Trek) but I also grew up on a farm (I spent my summers bailing hay and raising dinner). Also I’m an Eagle Scout.

What you wish people knew about God: He loves us so much and He wants us to carry out that love to the rest of the world.
