The world is weary. There’s no doubt about this. As we experience the pain of our circumstances in 2020, we enter this Advent season. There’s a paradox here. Advent zeroes in on themes of hope, peace, joy, and love in a world that feels devoid of it. But just as Jesus entered into a weary world so long ago, he joins us in our present to give us hope for the future. Like that first Christmas, he promised that he would be returning to set everything right again. So we embrace this time of waiting. Into the darkness, we ignite the light of hope.

John promised that “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it” (John 1:5). So we invite you to join us on this journey of consolation, expectation, and revelation.

Each day includes a devotional, candle lighting, and spiritual discipline.

All entries are written by Rev. Emily Hines, Discipleship Pastor of Brookhaven Wesleyan Church.
